DETAILS of how much compensation residents affected by HS2 will be entitled to are set to be announced in the next four to six weeks.

HS2 Ltd chairman Sir David Higgins said at a meeting of MPs he expects the Department for Transport to announce details of the compensation package in the next few weeks.

Rail bosses have been criticised for taking so long to reassure residents whose homes will be affected either by the route of the planned line or by building work about how much compensation they would be entitled to.

The news has been welcomed by Aylesbury MP David Lidington.

He said: "I am pleased that the announcement on the new compensation package will be made shortly as those affected by HS2 have had to endure a great deal of uncertainty regarding compensation.

"I hope that the compensation package will ensure that anyone who has suffered a loss that is attributable to HS2 receives full compensation for their loss."
