A SERIOUS injury has been reported after a lorry crashed through the central reservation on the M40 this afternoon.
An HGV and a car were both involved in the collision on the northbound section between junctions 4, for Handy Cross, and 5, Stokenchurch, at 3.15pm.
All three emergency services along with officers from the Highways Agency were called to the scene. A total of three fire crews were sent out but their services were not required.
There are lengthy queues in both directions, with reports of vehicles reversing back up the southbound entry sliproad at junction 5 to avoid getting stuck in traffic.
Two lanes are currently closed on the northbound section while the lane closest to the central reservation is shut on the southbound stretch.
The Highways Agency report delays of up to half an hour in each direction.
