A VOLUNTEER at a Downley care home has been honoured for her dedication and service.
Sybil Wingrove, who gives up her time to help out at The Heights, won an award in the dignity and wellbeing category at the Buckinghamshire Awards.
Judges praised Mrs Wingrove for her involvement, dedication and enthusiasm which directly improves the wellbeing of the care home’s residents.
Mrs Wingrove maintains the garden, knits hats and scarves to raise money for the home and keeps residents company, often helping out with crosswords.
Elizabeth Britnell, activities coordinator at The Heights, said: “Having Sybil’s enthusiasm here has brought a whole new dimension to the home.
“We’d be only more delighted to have another 50 Sybils!”
The Heights in Langley Close is part of The Fremantle Trust. It provides nursing and personal care, as well as specialist support for people with dementia.
