RUNNERS from a Marlow club will embark on the biggest challenge in athletics this weekend when they take on the London Marathon.

Eight members of Marlow Striders running club are making the journey to the capital for the gruelling 26-mile street course.

The club, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, are holding a pre-race social run followed by a pasta party on Thursday to give the competitors a chance to load up on carbs before the big day.

The Striders competitors are: Blanche Morrissey, Paul Bushby, Barbro Julin, Olof Hansen, Ann Bowles, Tom Pinkham, Ellena Benson, Les Lepper.

Runner from all over South Bucks will be looking to cross the famous finish line on the Mall on Sunday, with many of them raising money for charity.
