BAD weather prompted the cancellation of a fundraising cycle ride on two occasions.

The First Longwick Beaver and Cub Scouts planned to ride along the Phoenix Trail, near Longwick for Scannappeal, in support of a parent of one of the group who has received treatment for breast cancer.

But wet and windy weather stopped the ride going ahead.

Which is where Risborough Springs in Stratton Road stepped in and offered them a dedicated sponsored swim lane for the afternoon free of charge.

The children swapped their bikes for their swimming gear and between them swam more than 300 lengths in an hour, managing to raise £,1500 for Scannappeal.

The charity raises funds to buy life-saving equipment for Amersham, Stoke Mandeville, Wycombe and community hospitals.
