AN 81-year-old woman was burgled after a man distracted her by claiming he was owed money after doing work on her guttering.

The victim was approached by the man whilst she was walking along Bassetsbury Lane on Monday, March 31.

The man claimed he was owed payment for the work he had done and would come to collect in from her flat in Chestnut Avenue, High Wycombe.

After being invited into the flat, the man took payment before stealing a large amount of money from her bedroom, after asking to use the toilet.

The offender is a white man of stocky build, around 5ft 6ins tall. He is believed to be aged in his forties with a round, clean shaven face. He was wearing a dark coloured hat.

Police are now appealing for witnesses. Anyone with information should contact Det Con Nathan Davey from High Wycombe police station by calling 101.
