'OUTSTANDING in all areas' is the judgement of Ofsted inspectors in their report on Chesham Grammar School.

Pupils at the school in White Hill have 'a thirst for learning' and have 'extremely positive attitudes', the Ofsted report concluded.

And inspectors who visited the school last month said that in headmaster Philip Wayne they had an 'outstanding leader'.

The report said: "Teachers are good role models for their students, set high expectations, match the work closely to students’ needs, and motivate them well.

"Students say they are very happy at the school. They have extremely positive attitudes to learning and their behaviour in lessons and around the school is exemplary.

"The headteacher is an outstanding leader. He is strongly supported by senior leaders who are themselves highly effective and skilled practitioners. All are passionate about improving the school and the achievements of its students. They have ensured that all staff, parents and students have a clear understanding of the school’s aims and their part in achieving the school’s vision."

The inspection took place over two days in March when five inspectors observed lessons and looked at samples of work before holding meetings with governors, teachers, pupil groups and the school leaders.

Mr Wayne said: "We are naturally delighted with the outstanding judgement. Chesham Grammar School has been on a very inspiring journey, having seen developments in all areas of school life.

"We have able and passionate students, talented and hardworking staff and committed, supportive parents. We look to the future with excitement for future progress."
