GREEN-fingered Rotarians picked up their spades and started digging to support a charity’s allotment project.

The Evening Group of the Wycombe Rotary Club helped the South Bucks Down Syndrome Group clear weeds from the charity’s allotments in Great Kingshill before the plots can be used fully.

Rotarians Valerie Jenkins and Graeme Card also presented the charity’s chairman Judy Pantridge with a cheque for £250. The cash was raised as part of the rotary club’s anniversary event.

Rachael Pope, who is also a member of the Bucks Enabling Community Project, said: “This is great news – the money means we will be able to pay the rent on the allotment for the whole year.”

Rotarian Paul Shields said: “It’s a very therapeutic and worthwhile project which brings people in the community with similar interests together.

"I enjoyed helping out and left with a real sense of achievement. Both groups are looking forward to working together in the future.”
