A MAN who lost both his parents to cancer will take part in a gruelling 560 mile bike ride to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support.

Martin Hedinger from High Wycombe will set off for Switzerland from London on June 25 – a journey which will take up to 10 days to complete.

Mr Hedinger, who has always enjoyed cycling, says he hopes to raise £1000 for the cancer support charity after he lost both his parents to the disease.

His wife’s brother also passed away after suffering from lung cancer.

The 50-year-old said: "It's something I've been wanting to do for probably the last 10 years and I thought while I'm at it, why not do it for charity?"

The painter and decorator, who is no stranger to long hours in the saddle after previously raising money for the British Heart Foundation by doing the London to Brighton ride, began training for the 560mile journey just after Christmas.
