ICE skating is set to make a comeback next winter by popular demand at a High Wycombe department store.

Customers at the John Lewis store, in Holmers Farm Way, have been asking for a repeat of the Ice Magic event, held on one of the busiest shopping days before Christmas.

The store's car park was decked out with tinsel and a small ice skating rink was set up for customers to enjoy for free while doing a spot of Christmas shopping.

John Marks, 34, of Gosling Grove, High Wycombe, went along with his wife Julie and six-year-old daughter Katherine with her friend Becky and mother Helen.

Mr Marks was responsible for capturing his daughter's first steps on ice on camera.

He said: "We came here specially for the ice rink. I think it is a wonderful idea.

"This is the first time my daughter has tried skating and I am on camera duty."

Jane Wilson, visual merchandising manager for John Lewis, said: "It is the first year we have had an ice rink and it seems to be very popular.

"The weather has been perfect for it and we have had lots of requests to bring it back next year."
