A PROJECT chronicling the history of Prestwood is gathering pace – but the man behind it is looking for more help from villagers.

The Prestwood Village Archive was set up last year by Mark Cunnane to tell the story of what’s happened in the village since 1900.

A website has been launched with different sections going into detail of Prestwood life, 20 years at a time, thanks to the help of residents and their memories of the village.

But Mr Cunnane is appealing for the community’s help to make the archives even bigger – and he particularly wants to hear from those who have a project they have an interest in.

He said: “It’s very much a community project and I’m looking for people to submit photos and articles. We don’t care where they come from – everything is history. We want images, text and articles supplied by the community.

“What I’m really looking for is people to take on specific projects, or things that are of a specific interest to them.

“One that’s being worked on at the moment is about the Prisoner of War camp in Prestwood."

He added: “I have seen many changes and never recorded any of them. Luckily, many people have, and I’m looking for them to submit stuff.”
