FIGHTERS helped to raise almost £2000 during at a boxing gala held at the newly refurbished Old Town Hall last week.
More than 200 people watched on as boxers aged between eight and 22 took part in the event organised by the Buckinghamshire Freemasons and Wycombe District Council on April 16.
The gala raised almost £2000 for the children’s charity Variety and High Wycombe Amateur Boxing Club.
Peter Moody, Assistant Provincial Grand Master, said: “This is what Freemasonry in the community is about - identifying areas of the community that need support in some way.”
Chairman of WDC Cllr Iain McEnnis added: “WDC are committed to helping all areas of the community.
“Boxing is a valuable discipline and a life skill that gives many youngsters opportunities they may not have had otherwise, whilst teaching the individual self control and respect for others.”
It was one of the first events held at the newly revamped town hall in Queen Victoria Road, High Wycombe.
