MARLOW Bottom ground to a halt during rush hour yesterday after a serious traffic collision which saw firefighters cut a man free from his car.

Police, fire and ambulance services were called to the two-car crash near Brucewood Parade after a Honda and a Ford collided at around 5pm.

Fire crews used hydraulic equipment to free the driver from the Ford, who parademics suspected may have sustained spinal injuries in the crash.

Another man and woman were released, uninjured, before firefighters arrived.

Richard Boast, watch manager at Marlow Fire Station, said: "The driver of the Ford had spinal injuries, so we had to remove the roof to take him out safely.

"The car was almost off the road and the second car was in the middle of the road and couldn’t be easily moved because of the damage, so for safety I closed the road."

Crews were on the scene for nearly two hours before the road could be cleared.

South Central Ambulance Service has confirmed it took one person to Stoke Mandeville Hospital following the crash.
