Theatre Critics of Wales Award winning company, Ballet Cymru will present another outstanding double bill of new work featuring some of Wales’ most outstanding artists at Newport Riverfront on May 3 featuring 2013 welsh music prize winner, Georgia Ruth, a new composition by award winning composer Thomas Hewitt Jones, and live choir, The Vivum Singers.
Choreographers Darius James and Amy Doughty have used songs from Georgia Ruth's Welsh Music Prize award winning album Week of Pines to create a unique work especially for the dancers of Ballet Cymru. Georgia herself is playing the music live on stage with the company. Week of Pines is on Gwymon Records.
Ballet Cymru will also be teaming up composer Thomas Hewitt Jones and choir to produce a new work based on Jones’s composition, The Same Flame. Thomas Hewitt Jones is an award-winning composer of both concert and commercial music. Winner of the 2003 BBC Young Composer Competition, Thomas has since had numerous pieces performed, broadcast and published. Ballet Cymru are delighted to be working Thomas again, having written the scores to 'Under Milk Wood' and 'Lady of the Lake' in previous years. The Same Flame is published by Boosey & Hawkes and released on Vivum Records.
