RESIDENTS of one of the Thameside villages worst hit by this year’s flooding have sounded a call for action after floodwaters devastated at least 23 homes.
A in depth report into the floods produced by villagers in Medmenham, near Marlow, reveals the full extent of the damage caused.
One long-term resident claimed waters were higher than in 1947, widely considered to be the worst single flooding episode in living memory.
A multi-million pound Marlow Flood Alleviation scheme mooted for the town centre does not extend to Medmenham, with residents and the parish council worried the scheme could actually make matters worse for surrounding villages.
Last week, residents in Marlow launched a petition to call for action over the long awaited scheme, which would see flood walls and underground pumping stations throughout the town.
