A DOG got into a tight squeeze this week and had to be rescued from a gate by firefighters.

On Wednesday evening around 9.40pm a white English Bull Terrier wedged itself in a wrought iron gate between his front legs and ribcage.

Firefighters from High Wycombe were called to Marlow Road in Lane End, where they used hydraulic rescue equipment to spread the bars on the gate, free the dog and then restore the gate to its original shape.

Firefighter Lawrence Whitelock from White Watch at High Wycombe Fire Station said: "We understand from the owner that he was playing with another dog which ran through the gate before the terrier attempted to follow."

The dog was unharmed.

Why waste money sending out a fire engine (not to mention interrupting the poor firefighters game of cards) because of an obese dog?

Why not just shoot the idiotic creature and sell the carcass to some local Koreans? The owner should also be arrested for wasting the time of the emergency services.

Or, why not see it as an important real-life situation training exercise. The fire service have to keep training so things like this add a bit of variety.
