THE Major of High Wycombe is opening his parlour to the public this weekend.
Residents can enter the historic Mayor’s Parlour at Wycombe District Council’s HQ in Queen Victoria Road on Saturday and pose for photos in the first citizen of the town’s seat with the mayoral chain of office.
Mayor Trevor Snaith said: “We have taken the mayoralty out to the community this year so the Deputy Mayor (Cllr Paula Lee) said ‘why don’t we bring the community to us’.
“That’s what we’re doing, so if anyone wants to come down to have a look or bring their children to see the parlour and the jewellery, here’s the chance.”
The open day is free but the Mayor said he would welcome any donations towards his appeal – which is in aid of the One Can Trust and the Child Bereavement UK charity.
Residents can visit the parlour between 9.30am and noon on Saturday.
