A FORMER builder who has been unable to work for over 10 years after suffering from a stroke has won £50,000 thanks to his Gerrards Cross Postcode.

Keith Powell, 65, scooped the prize after playing the postcode lottery and winning with his SL9 0PB postcode.

He said: “I really wasn’t sure what to expect, I’ve never won anything – not even a raffle.”

“I’m very canny with my money; I’m not going to let this win go to waste.”

Keith’s son, Spencer, 12, is a junior instructor and a World Championship Bronze Medallist in Martial Arts.

“My son wants to open up his own martial arts school; I will put a big chunk of my winnings aside for him when he is sixteen” he said.

Keith’s wife is now planning to open the school in May so it’s up and running for Spencer to take over when he’s old enough.

The cheque was presented to the Gerrards Cross residents by the People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador and rugby legend, Scott Quinnell.

He said: “I had a great day meeting Keith and handing him his cheque. I hope they have great fun investing their win in their new martial arts school.”
