A MARLOW school is calling on former pupils to get back in touch as it announces a series of reunions.

Sir William Borlase’s Grammar School is holding a special day of celebrations for the class of 2004 on Saturday, May 17 to mark a decade since the year group of Old Borlasians left the school.

And for the slightly older Old Borlasians, a day of reunions will be held on Thursday, June 19 for alumni who finished their studies between the 1930s and the 1960s.

The get togethers at the West Street academy will include an afternoon tea, tours of the school, an assembly service and displays.

School development director Celia Blakeway-Phillips said: “We are so excited to welcome back our Old Borlasians from particular eras. There are still some Old Borlasians we are not in touch with and we hope to re-connect with them soon.

“Through our communications and reunions we are re-creating a sense of nostalgia and the Borlase community.”

Borlase plans to mark the 20, 30 and 40-year anniversaries of its alumni and will announce dates of reunions for the classes of 1974, 1984 and 1994 at a later date.

After reaching out to its former pupils, the school has now connected with over 5,500 Old Borlasians and is urging others to get back in touch.

And the school, which was one of the first in the county to become an academy, wants to encourage alumni to give talks or offer careers advice to Sixth Formers or young leavers.
