THE final arrangements are being put in place to separate the role of chairman and mayor in Princes Risborough.

As it currently stands the role is combined, but the work load is increasing.

Money has been donated by individuals and organisations for £1,250 to buy a pendant for the mayor, to wear to ceremonial events, as the current pendant says chairman.

The current chain will be used for mayoral events, until money is raised for a new chain.

Cllr Turner said: "When we first started off with the dual role it was my second year as a councillor.

"It was very slow in taking off with regards to invites to the chairman/ mayor to go out- there were just a few a year.

"That has grown now and the job of the chairman has grown."

The mayor is a ceremonial role and the chairman deals with the administration of the council.

At the monthly meeting in May the new mayor and new chairman will be voted in.
