SAINSBURY'S have finally announced a date for the opening of its new shop in Prestwood.

Shoppers will have their first chance to use the new store in Wycombe Road on Tuesday, May 27.

Proposals for the new store - one of Sainsbury's 'Local' range of convenience stores - were first put forward two years ago.

Sainsbury's say it will provide 20 new jobs - of which 13 have been filled using a government-backed job seekers scheme, Maximus, which helps get people get back into work.

New manager Chris Clements said: "I am really looking forward to opening the new shop and welcoming our customers for the first time. I have a great team in place and our aim is to provide a fresh range of products, excellent customer service and to truly integrate into Prestwood’s thriving community.

"We have been working hard to ensure that the store will benefit the local area and will operate well alongside its neighbours."

The store has made a £500 donation provided to the Barnardo's Children's Centre in Prestwood and discussions are taking place with a primary school in the village to see what help the building contractors can provide.
