Travellers set up camp in High Wycombe

Bucks Free Press: Travellers set up camp in High Wycombe Travellers set up camp in High Wycombe

TRAVELLERS from outside of Bucks once again occupied private land in High Wycombe this week as they waited for a permanent site to become available.

Six caravans parked-up outside the Johnson and Johnson site in Holmers Farm Way on the Cressex side of Wycombe on Monday.

One of the travellers, who did not want to be named, said: “We are only staying until a site in London becomes available.”

He added we will have left by the end of the week and we are not here for long.

The traveller’s set-up camp on the green space on Monday evening this week and police were called to the scene.

The police were reportedly told by the travellers they would be leaving within a few days.

It is the second time in a week that the police have had to hold talks with travellers occupying land in Wycombe.

Last week, it was reported in the BFP, over 15 caravans had to be removed from two sites across the area.

They first reportedly moved onto private land in Loudwater and then after being evicted moved onto the former Compair Site in the Hughenden Quarter.

They were evicted from that land a day later with over 20 police officers following them from the site.

The two incidents are not related as it is believed the two groups of people are different.
