WANDERERS fans are continuing to celebrate arguably their club's greatest-ever escape, as they avoided the drop out of the Football League on the last day of the season.
Their fate wasn't in their own hands and some supporters - and maybe even some of the players - headed in their droves to Torquay yesterday perhaps in blind hope more than expectation that Wanderers could survive.
And they managed it, as a 3-0 victory at Plainmoor coupled with a 1-0 defeat for Bristol Rovers at the hands of Mansfield Town meant the survival party could start amongst the disbelieving Blues fans who had prayed for a miracle.
A huge roar greeted the news Rovers had been beaten and it would be they, rather than the Chairboys, who would be playing non-league football next season.
Players and staff rushed over to enjoy and share the moment with the 929 fans who had made the journey to see the impossible become reality.
