TRAFFIC in Marlow will grind to a halt on Sunday for make way for the return of an annual favourite as runners replace cars on the town’s roads.

The Marlow 5 race, now in its 31st year, will see over 1200 competitors take to the streets and battle it out to be crowned this year’s champion.

Streets across town, including the High Street, Spittal Street, Marlow Bridge and parts of West Street, will be closed for the duration of the five-mile race which starts at 9.30am.

Closures will be put in place from 9am with organisers expecting to reopen all roads by 11am as the last of the runners completes the course, which starts and ends in Higginson Park.

The annual race, sponsored by Grant and Stone, is organised by Wycombe-based Handy Cross Runners.

Entries on the day will be available up until 9am. at a cost of £15 but runners are advised to get there early to avoid disappointment.

The five-mile favorite is run in conjunction with the longer, more gruelling Wycombe Half Marathon in July.
