A WOMAN needed hospital treatment after being assaulted by a gang of five as she walked through an alleyway in Marlow.

The 27-year-old victim was walking through the passageway leading from Bryon Close towards Peacock Road when she was approached by a group of four men and one woman.

She sustained cuts to her head and scratches to her neck after being assaulted, with her injuries requiring treatment at Wexham Park Hospital.

Thames Valley Police have today launched an appeal for information into the assault, which happened between 10.20-11pm on Tuesday May 6.

The offenders were all white, in their early to mid twenties, and all spoke with local accents.

Investigating officer PC Simon Thomas said: "I would appeal to anyone who saw a group in the area at this time, or anyone with any information to contact police immediately.

"This was an unprovoked assault and I am keen to reassure the local community in Marlow that the Force is conducting a thorough investigation into the offence."
