THREE people suffered gunshot wounds and two others were injured after a shooting in Totteridge last night.

Officers were called to the Lucas Wood area next to Underwood Road at 8.40pm yesterday after the sounds of multiple gunshots were reported.

Police have attempted to reassure residents that the incident was not a random shooting.

A 16-year-old boy is currently in custody after being arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Two others have also been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder this afternoon.

Five people in total were injured, including the three with gunshot wounds, although none of the injuries are believed to be life threatening.

Uniformed police and forensic teams are currently examining multiple sites in the area.

Supt Ed Mclean said: “This investigation is being lead by our Force Criminal Investigations Department, supported by specialist teams and local uniformed officers and PCSOs.

“We are in the early stage of a complex investigation and I would like to reassure the community of High Wycombe that we are actively seeking to arrest outstanding offenders.

"It is important to note that this is not believed to be a random shooting.”

It is currently believed that Totteridge Recreation Ground has been cordoned off by police.

Police are urging anyone with information to contact police on 101.
