A BOY arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with a shooting in High Wycombe has been released on bail.

The 16-year-old was released last night and has been bailed until June 17.

Two other men – aged 18 and 19 – who were also arrested on suspicion of attempted murder currently remain in police custody.

Five people were injured during a shooting in Totteridge on Sunday night – three of which sustained non-life threatening gunshot wounds.

Officers were called to the Lucas Wood area next to Underwood Road at 8.40pm after the sounds of multiple gunshots were reported.

Worried residents told the BFP they were ‘shocked and concerned’.

Superintendent Ed McLean, Wycombe’s Area Commander, has moved to quell residents’ fears by stating he believes it was a targeted attack.

He said: “This investigation is being lead by our Force Criminal Investigations Department, supported by specialist teams and local uniformed officers and PCSOs.

“We are in the early stage of a complex investigation and I would like to reassure the community of High Wycombe that we are actively seeking to arrest outstanding offenders.

"It is important to note that this is not believed to be a random shooting.”

The area was cordoned off yesterday while police investigated the scene.

Contact police on the 101 enquiry line with any information about the shooting.
