THE new pastor of Holmer Green Baptist Church previously worked in the food industry, before getting a calling from God.
Anthony Smith was appointed in March of this year and will have his induction service on June 7.
He previously worked for 28 years in the food industry latterly as general manager of a number of bread factories.
Pastor Smith said: "I was offered early retirement and went on to set up my own consultancy business but over a period of time I felt God calling me to move in a different direction.
"It was then that my wife Adele and myself felt we should start attending Holmer Green Baptist Church to help while they were without a pastor.
"We felt at home very quickly made some good friends and really enjoyed attending the varied church activities."
He said he was thrilled when the church asked him to become their permanent pastor.
Pastor Smith has three grown up sons with Adele, and one granddaughter with two more grandchildren on the way.
He said: "If you ever need a listening ear, a prayer or just an opportunity to talk please give me a call or pop over to the church. I try and be there most Monday mornings so you should be able to catch me."
