BURGLARS who broke into a house in High Wycombe were forced to flee empty handed after awaking the home-owner.

Thames Valley Police said the burglars gained entry to the property in Mayhew Crescent at about 11pm on Friday.

But the resident, who was in bed, heard noises in the house and went to investigate causing the thieves to scarper empty handed.

Contact police on the 101 enquiry line with any information.
