ORGANISERS of Marlow’s top summer social occasion have urged revellers to reserve their place quickly as tickets begin to sell out with only two weeks to go.

Marlow Town Regatta returns on June 14 and 15, with this year’s Higginson Park enclosure bigger than ever.

Sir Steve Redgrave will open the festival of rowing, picnicking, entertainment and Pimms at 10am on the Saturday.

And with tickets selling fast, the Regatta committee is urging families to book now to avoid missing out on a spot by the river.

Committee member Lance Slater said: "There’s only two weeks to go, and we’ve virtually sold out of picnic spaces. Marlow is guaranteed its favourite annual garden party.

"We have laid out the site with even more than last year and it’s going to be great so come on and get your tickets booked now.

"We keep being told we are due a good summer after the horrible winter we’ve had so hopefully that is all arranged for us!"

This year, vehicles will not be allowed into the picnic enclosure to make extra room for picnickers.

Instead, cars are asked to park on the Marlow park cricket pitch and make their way to the enclosure.

A dedicated team will be on hand to help people unload and take their belongings to their pitches.

While there is a fee to enter the enclosure for Saturday’s rowing race day, the park will be open free of charge on Sunday for families to enjoy the entertainment on offer.

As well as the regular dragon boat racing, fun fair and a wealth of food and drink, there will be performances throughout the day, including Morris dancers, street dance troupes and the London Massed Bugle Band.

Saturday enclosure entry costs £8 for adults, £7 for 14 to 17 year-olds and £4 for children, with under-fives going free.

To book your place, go to www.marlowtownregatta.org or visit the Marlow Information Centre on Institute Road.
