AN elderly man was threatened with a knife after someone broke into his home in Castlefield and stole a large amount of cash.

The offender, who police have described as “despicable”, broke into the property in Cross Road, Castlefield, and stole a large amount of cash from one of the rooms, police said.

The burglar threatened the man, who is in his eighties, with a knife at about 4.15pm on Monday, May 26.

The offender is black, around 5ft 10ins to 6ft tall, well built and was wearing a dark grey tracksuit top and matching tracksuit bottoms, police said.

Investigating officer, Det Con Chris Hatton from High Wycombe, said: “This was a frightening ordeal for an elderly gentleman who had a large amount of money stolen from him in his own home.

“I would appeal to anyone who has any information which could help us to find this despicable offender and bring him to justice to contact me as soon as possible.”
