Bucks Free Press: Residents go all out for special guests Residents go all out for special guests

RESIDENTS of Bourne End welcomed some very special guests last week as the twinning association met with their French counterparts.

A group of people from Octeville-sur-Mer, a commune twinned with Bourne End, made the journey over to Bucks at the end of last week.

As expected the French visitors were warmly welcomed with a number of displays and bunting erected around the town to mark the occasion.

The guests were given a tour of Bourne End as well as the surrounding areas with the history of Bucks being explained.

Chairman of the Bourne End Twinning Association, Liz Yeeles, said: “Activities over the weekend included a coach trip to the Black Country Living Museum, a visit to the Mayor's parlour in High Wycombe where the history of the role and regalia were explained to them.”

She added: “On Saturday evening (May 31) a group meal was held followed by a very popular barn dance.”

The visit also saw a number of speeches made from key representatives including Mrs Yeeles and Octeville-sur-Mer president, Alain Richard.

Octeville-sur-Mer Mayor Jean-Louis Rousilon and local councillors Sue Wagner (Wooburn and Bourne End Parish Council chairman) and Brian Pollock (Wycombe District Council) also said a few words.
