PLANS for an adult day centre and a new base in High Wycombe for Buckinghamshire County Council have been approved.
Wycombe District Council’s Planning Committee gave the proposals for the three-storey complex in Bellfield Road the thumbs up this week.
The 3,726sqm building would be split in to two – with BCC moving its Wycombe operations from Easton Street to the top two floors.
The ground floor will play home to a day centre for up to 80 vulnerable adults, which will feature activity rooms, changing facilities, a diner and a secure garden.
It is part of a Buckinghamshire County Council scheme to replace the county’s 22 day centres with six refurbished or new-build super-centres.
The application was approved on Wednesday, subject to planning conditions.
The complex will be part of the new-look Hughenden Quarter, which already features Buckinghamshire New University student accommodation.
The old De La Rue site is currently being redeveloped, with construction due to begin on a new link road between Wycombe and Hughenden next month.
A planning application for ExtraCare Charitable Trust retirement homes is expected to be submitted to WDC in the coming weeks.
