A LEAD barbershop quartet singer from Beaconsfield recently won gold at the national championships, two weeks ago.

The group scooped the first place prize and will now go on to represent the UK in next year’s international competition due to be held in Pittsburgh, USA.

'Park Street' includes Alastair Hay-Plumb from Beaconsfield and three friends, Laurence Hasson (tenor), Simon Arnott (bass) and Dave Foot (baritone).

The group were voted the best across the country during the national finals in Harrogate from May 23 until May 25, despite having only started three years ago.

More than 2000 attended the event.

The group are now looking to kick start their careers by raising funds for their first album.
