WORK to temporarily relocate the Cressex Park-and-Ride will begin on Sunday night – to enable construction to begin on the Next Home store.

The park-and-ride and waiting room will be moved to the west side of the car-park, with a revised road network in place from Monday morning.

Bus times will be unchanged, Wycombe District Council said.

Work will then begin on creating the Next Home store on the east side of the car-park opposite Empire Cinema and Frankie & Benny’s restaurant.

The retail giant’s 7,261sqm ‘flagship’ home and garden store is expected to create 220 new jobs.

Next will also provide a new bus service linking the site to High Wycombe and will also pay £1.34m in a Community Infrastructure Levy which will be used to improve the town centre.

A coachway park-and-ride will be built at the multi-million-pound Handy Cross Hub project, which will include the new Wycombe Sports Centre - which is already being built - a hotel and offices.

Waitrose announced yesterday that it will move into the food store that will be built on the site.

The sports centre, coachway and Waitrose are all set to open next year.
