A PUPIL from a school in Gerrards Cross has been dubbed the ‘Under 9 Supremo’ after his first place success at the world’s largest chess tournament.

During the Delaney UK Schools Chess Challenge, Aiden Gajadhar from Gayhurst School, took first place in the Megafinal U9's, winning all six of his matches.

In July, Aiden will compete again in the Southern Giga-Final in Reading.

If successful, he will then compete in the Terafinals, where players compete against all age groups.

Having learnt to play on his DS, Aiden revealed that his secret is to think carefully about several moves ahead rather than the current move.

Four other pupils from the school also competed in the tournament.
