SHOPPERS and visitors out and about in Marlow this weekend can be forgiven for thinking they’ve taken a step back in time as a fleet of classic trucks, vans and lorries roll through town.

The Historical Commercial Vehicle Society holds its annual ‘Ridgeway Run’ on Sunday, featuring a procession of well-loved automotive workhorses along the scenic Chilterns route.

After setting off from Henley at 8am, the fleet of 55 vehicles from throughout the last century will make its way through Marlow from 8.30am on its way to Stokenchurch and beyond to Quainton.

The HCVS was formed in 1958 and now has over 50 members who share a love of classic, historical commercial vehicles.

Among the fleet are oil tankers, buses, pick up trucks and even a fire engine form a bygone age of motoring.

The group is steered by chairman and former Marlow mayor Ivor Coleman.

Anyone with a classic commercial vehicle who wants to get involved should contact chairman Ivor on 01628 298042.
