THE Royal Air Force will exercise its right to freely march through High Wycombe tomorrow – but a planned fly-past by has been cancelled.
Airmen and women will be inspected outside All Saints Parish Church at 10am on Wednesday ahead of a short service.
They will line up outside the church at approximately 10.30am for the Freedom Parade along the High Street for the General Salute at 11am.
But a planned fly-past by a Lancaster Bomber has been axed.
The aircraft has been caught up in services in Normandy to mark the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings.
Despite the cancellation, High Wycombe’s Town Clerk Bill Reid said: “It is still a chance for the people of the town to give their thanks to the RAF.”
RAF High Wycombe, based in Naphill, was granted the Freedom of High Wycombe in 1971.
It traditionally exercises its right to march every four years.
