THE rain made the second Stokenchurch race a very muddy event on Saturday morning.

It poured with rain during the 5k and 10k Run the Rock races which started from Longburrow Hall at 10am.

But organisers said it made the event even more fun.

Vicki Nuthall said: "It was amazing. It went really well, considering the awful weather conditions. I just couldn't believe it- as soon as everyone left the hall the sun came out.

"But the feedback has been amazing. It was more of a Tough Mudder event as people ran in covered in mud and they loved it and they made it more fun."

There were 263 people registered to take part and 224 turned up on the day.

First in the 10k was Ben Davies with a time of 42m57s, second was Simon Sikura with 44m05s and third David Rees Hall with 44m54s, The first woman home was Sharon Mura with a time of 55m24s.

The winner of the 5k was Edward O'Neill with a time of 23m05s and the first woman was Georgina Haley with 25m56s.

It is unknown how much is raised yet but money will go to Stokenchurch Community Transport and the village's sporting organisations.

Funds will also go to help the parish council provide play provisions in the village and to the Arctic ONE Foundation, which aims to give opportunities to both able bodied and disabled people to enable them to get involved in sport.

Helen Chapman, who has a running blade, completed the 5km for the Arctic One charity.
