A PARTY was held last Friday to celebrate two years since a social enterprise took over the running of a day care centre.

Fundraisers, trustees and people who use the service gathered at The Princes Centre in Clifford Road to enjoy drinks and a celebration cake.

The centre was previously under Buckinghamshire County Council control, but due to service cut backs the social enterprise took over and has been running it ever since.

They need to raise £300,000 to buy the freehold and to maintain service and are already well on their way.

Buckinghamshire County Councillor and chairman of The Princes Centre, Carl Etholen, said: "It was excellent. Near on 80 people were there.

"So far we have raised £190,000, of which we have about £150,000 in the bank, as we started with nothing and a lot was spent on start-up costs.

"We hope within the next few months we will be able to buy the freehold."

He said they need to keep the momentum going to ensure they reach their fundraising target.
