CONSTRUCTION on new changing rooms for the Desborough Recreation Ground is underway.

Wycombe District Council has pumped £390,000 into building four separate zones, which can accommodate up to 58 people at one time.

The former changing facilities at the ground off Fryers Lane were closed ten years ago due to poor plumbing, electricity and security issues.

Cllr John Gibbs, WDC’s Cabinet Member for Community, said: “The building is functional and will have PIR sensor lighting to reduce energy waste, as well as timed shower controls so water cannot be left running.

“Customers paying to book a football pitch will automatically receive use of two changing rooms.

“The lights, heating and water will be activated when they enter the premises and will automatically switch off when they leave.

“We hope the new changing rooms will encourage more of the community to use the fantastic facilities on offer at Desborough Recreation Ground.”

Each zone will include toilet cubicles, four showers, underfloor heating and hygienic ceilings and walls that can be wiped clean.

Clubs can book the changing rooms and pitches through the council. Visit www.wycombe.gov.uk or call 01494 421 878 for details.
