Family appeal for witnesses after hit and run collision in Prestwood
A CONCERNED mum is appealing for witnesses after her teenage son was injured in a hit and run collision.
James Buchanan was cycling to work in Wycombe Road, Prestwood, when he was hit from behind on Tuesday, June 10, at 7.45am.
The 19-year-old suffered minor injuries and only got a slight glimpse of the car.
A woman who was in a nearby field heard the collision and was able to help the cyclist and remove his bike from the road.
Mr Buchanan’s mum, Dawn Buchanan, said: “It was very worrying, it is just minor injuries luckily, but it could have been a lot worse.
“Obviously he has got injuries, he hurt his leg, his neck is a bit stiff, and he was slightly concussed.
“The car hit him from behind, he went one way and the car just carried on, they then must have run over his bike as it is completely ruined, it must have been impossible for them not to know they had run over it.
“What if that person does this again? They could seriously hurt someone and who knows if next time it could be a fatal one.
She added: “He thinks it (the car) was a blue BMW but he is not sure, he only got a slight glimpse when he was lying on the ground.
“It is a busy road, we just hope someone saw something.”
Mr Buchanan was travelling to work in Spurlands End Road from his home in Prestwood when the collision happened.
The accident was reported to police in Amersham.
Police have asked anyone with information to contact them on 101.
