AN AWARD presentation scheduled for today to honour the achievements of a Royal British Legion club has been cancelled.

Marlow’s RBL were set to receive a prestigious national award after being recognised by its organisation.

The club, a separate, commercial arm of the veterans’ charity, has won the the Ian Hamilton Trophy, given for ‘Club Comradeship and Good Management’ and the most improved club nationally.

A special ceremony was scheduled for mid day today, but members have advised wellwishers that today’s proceedings have been postponed.

A new date has not yet been set.

The Station Approach club was nominated after a successful year which saw members raise over £1500 last autumn from sales of an ale created especially for the Poppy Appeal by Bucks brewery XT.

And it is a double celebration for members after being awarded CAMRA’s ‘Club of the Year’ for the district, with judges impressed at the quality and promotion of beers at the bar.
