PLANS to demolish part of a pub to make way for housing have failed on appeal.

It's the second time developers have failed in their bid to knock down The Pheasant in Plantation Road, Amersham.

The pub, which is housed in a Listed building, has been closed to customers since 2012 and since it served its last pint three planning applications to turn it into housing have been made by Amersham-based Inland Homes.

The first application was later withdrawn, while the second was unanimously turned down by members of Chiltern District Council's planning committee.

A subsequent application was also rebuffed by planning chiefs, with Inland Homes electing to take that decision to the planning inspectorate.

But they have ruled the original decision must stand after dismissing the appeal.

The latest planning application had two parts, with a section of the existing pub building due to be demolished and the remaining Listed part being converted into housing.

Plans for a further 14 dwellings to be built on the site were also submitted.
