THE Mayor of High Wycombe slipped into barista mode as he served up coffees and cup-cakes during a 15-hour fundraiser.
Mayor Khalil Ahmed team up with Café Amalfi to make and serve coffees and cakes to peckish visitors to High Wycombe town centre between 9am and midnight on Saturday, raising £1100 for charity.
The Crendon Street-based cafe agreed to spit its takings from the day with the Mayor’s Appeal, which this year is supporting Diabetes UK and The Cardiomyopathy Association.
Mayor Ahmed said: “We made a lot of money and I am very grateful to everyone who bought something, either from the café or our stall on the Wycombe Market, and to Café Amalfi for being so generous.
“It was tremendous and besides nipping off for another Mayoral engagement I made sure I was there for the duration, right up until midnight – I didn’t want any excuses if people asked where I was.”
