CHILDREN at a school in Gerrards Cross will run, cycle and swim to raise money for charity next week.

The director of sport at Thorpe House School, in Oval Way, has organised the event in memory of his best friend who died from bowel cancer last year.

The mini-triathlon is open for pupils as young as seven, right up to staff and parents.

The triathlon roughly includes a mile-long cycle ride, a half-a-mile run and a race in the school swimming pool, although younger children will have a slightly smaller length race.

Director of sport, Sean Day, said: “Since Steve died last year we have tried to raise as much money as possible.

“This year we have managed to raise almost £6,000 for charity and hopefully with the triathlon next week we can raise even more.”

The triathlon will take place on Thursday, July 3, and so far almost 70 people are signed up to take part.

All money raised will go to national charity, Beating Bowel Cancer.
