A VOLUNTEER-led lifesaving service based in Prestwood is appealing for help to raise money to buy a 4x4 response car.
The Community First Responders help treat patients suffering life-threatening emergencies before an ambulance can arrive to take over.
The responders are trained lifesaving skills by the South Central Ambulance NHS Trust and are provided with equipment to help in an emergency situation within the immediate vicinity of where they live or work.
At the moment the responders who cover Prestwood, Great Missenden and surrounding villages use their own cars for emergency calls. They say a dedicated ambulance car would be more recognisable to people waiting for ambulance assistance, would provide a better GPS and communication package and would carry extra medical equipment.
They want a 4x4 option because of the hilly nature of the area, making incidents on farms or other locations with difficult access easier to get to.
