A LANDLORD has praised the good will in Wycombe after residents and children rallied to raise £300 after a charity box was stolen from his pub.

A collection box for the Thames Valley Air Ambulance charity was snatched from the bar of The Hour Glass pub in Chapel Lane at 1.30pm on June 13.

Publican Paul Taylor branded the £50 theft “the lowest of the low” in a plea to track down the thief in the Bucks Free Press last week.

Police are yet to arrest anyone, but Mr Taylor said he has been overwhelmed by the response from the town’s residents.

He said: “We’ve had lots of people coming in making donations, saying they saw the piece in the Free Press and they wanted to help to replace the money.

“We even had a lady come in with her son because he wanted to hand in his pocket money, how sweet is that?

“Although one person tries to spoil it for everyone, how nice is it that people in this area clubbed together? Out of the bad comes the good.

“There’s a lot of bad news about but it’s nice to be able to report some good.”

Thames Valley Police said they would like to speak to this man in connection with the incident.
