A GROUP of Buckinghamshire solicitors have raised thousands for good causes by drawing up wills for people in return for a donation to charity.

D C Kaye & Co of Prestwood, Wendover and Amersham, recently took part in Will Aid 2013, amassing an impressive total of more than £7,600 (including Gift Aid) to date, to contribute to the appeal's nationwide 25th anniversary total.

Will Aid, the UK's leading charity will-writing scheme, offers people the chance to make or update their will in return for a donation which is then shared by one of nine UK charities: ActionAid, Age UK, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, NSPCC, Save the Children, Sightsavers, SCIAF (Scotland) and Trocaire (Northern Ireland).

Anna Rzemieniecka, community legacy manager from British Red Cross, visited the firm on behalf of these charities to present its Will Aid certificate.

She said: "I’m delighted to be able to thank D C Kaye & Co in person for their hard work and dedication in raising funds for Will Aid. These funds help to ensure that the British Red Cross can continue to help people in crisis both in local communities here in the UK and across the world.

"For example, in the UK, we were able to provide valuable short-term care and support to vulnerable people after an accident or illness, giving them the confidence to continue their daily lives."

D C Kaye & Co have taken part in eight Will Aid campaigns, raising a massive £32,400 by writing hundreds of wills for local people.

Lucy Pankhurst, a solicitor at the firm, said: "Will Aid enables us to give something back to the community and meet interesting people. We enjoy it - we are very pleased to have been able to raise so much money for good causes and hope to carry on being part of this very worthwhile scheme."

The scheme runs again in November 2014.
