AN escaped prisoner has been found and caught by police in Aylesbury last night.

Ricardo Dunn, 32, formerly of Burnley, Lancashire, was arrested by officers in Thame Road, Aylesbury.

He absconded from HMP Spring Hill in Grendon Underwood in the early hours of Sunday morning, along with another prisoner, Darren Douglas, aged 46, originally from the Birmingham area who remains at large at this time.

Two people, a 25-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman, both from the Aylesbury area, have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and are currently in police custody at this time.

Douglas was serving a life sentence for a murder he committed in Birmingham in 1998, where he stabbed a man during an altercation outside a pub.

Dunn will return to serving an indeterminate sentence following a conviction for GBH with intent in Burnley, where he assaulted a man following a verbal altercation in the street in 2009.

Supt Gez Chiariello, local police commander for Aylesbury Vale, said: "There has been a significant amount of police activity in and around the Aylesbury area tonight while officers carry our searches for the absconded prisoners.

"These searches are still on-going at this time and the information that we currently have suggests that the remaining absconded prisoner, Darren Douglas, is in the Aylesbury area.

"I would urge anyone who knows of his whereabouts to come forward and speak to us as soon as possible.

"Douglas is a violent offender and I would advise anyone who sees him not to approach him and contact police immediately."

Anyone with information about the location of Dunn should contact police on 101, or in an emergency 999, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
